He didhis ekmentary schoolandotherpreliminary training athome beforeformally training asaNurse. Itwas as aNurse that he was destined to bepopular and contribute his quota to thepolity. He went into trade unionism and togetherwith some otherekmentsfrom theNorth and'outsideformedapressuregroup topresshome theirdemandsforthe good of theirprofession. It was no wonderthat he was made the Secretary of the Nigeria NursesAssociation and later RegionalSecretary ofthe UnitedLabour Congress all between 1955 and 1962. Littk wonderstillthat he wasmade the Presidentof the UnitedLabourCongress in 1969 atatime the Congress andthe entire workingforce neededsomebody like him. Having beenfiredwithpositive nationalism itwasstillno wonderthat Yunusa Kaltungojoinedthepoliticalclass in 1979 as amember of the NationalParty of Nigeria. Even here, he optedfor representativepolitics as he was ekaed into the House of Representativesfrom the Tangak Waja South constituency. There, he distinguished himself as the NPNParty kader, Member, Committee ofSekctions andthe House Committee on Health allbetween 1979 and 1983. Alhaji Yunusa Kaltungo was ako to serve the society at the Executive kvel when he was appointed into the BauchiStateExecutive Councilbetween 1975and 1978andservedasthe Hon. CommissionerforAgriculture.
