HAMZA, Mallam Gombe

PARLIAMENTARYSECRETARY, FEDERAL MINISTRY OF HEALTH Malam Ham%a Gombe was born to the then Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Umaru on June / 1916. He started education first in an Islamic School before enrolling in the Gombe Elementary School where he was from 1925 to 1929. He wentto Bauchi MiddleSchoolfrom 1929 to 1936 then Katsina/Kaduna College from 19361939. Malam Ham%a also read in the famous Institute ofAdministration Zaria and was therefrom 1954 to 1955. Malam Ham^a Gombe being a Princeof the Gombe ruling house opted to remainat home and solidify the emirate struaure. He was employed mostly in the Native Authority Administration where he was for most of the time the Native TreasuryAccountant. He was however to serve his people ina different capacity when in politics, he represented the Gombe Division in the Federal House of Representatives from 1954 to 1959. He was also eleaed into the House again in 1959 this time representingNafada Federal Constituency. Hewas later appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Federal Ministryof Health. In the Second Republic, he was NPN memberfor Gombe and was House Memberfor the Petroleum and Energy ConservationCommittee. He died 15thJune,2000.
