OPAKANMI, Hon. Johnson Oyedeji

Honourable Johnson Oyedeji Opakanmi is a member of the House of Representatives for Iwo North in Oyo State. He won his election on the platform of the Unity Party of Nigeria. He was born on the 1st of December, 1928 at Alapola Compound, lle-Ogbo via Iwo and started his elementary school life at St. Mary's African Church School, lle-Ogbo in 1939. In 1942, he went to the Baptist Practising School Oke-Ode, Iwo, where he studied until 1946. In 1948, he moved to the Baptist College, Iwo un til he passed out in 1951. Honourable Johnson Oyedeji Opakanmi had his Teachers Grade II Certificate in 1953. Honourable Opakanmi was promoted to the post of Headmaster Class III in 1969 and subse quently rose in 1977 to the Class I Headmaster grade. Honourable Opakanmi is married and he has five children. Amongst his many hobbies are reading, far ming, traditional music and interest in the local history of the chieftancy institution in lle-Ogbo. As a devout Christian, Honourable Opakanmi held various positions in his Church. He was the People's Warden at St. Mary's African Church, lle-Ogbo, a treasurer of the church and secretary to the lle-Ogbo Christian Association as well as the Patron to the Young Women Christian Association.
