Hon. M. C. Okoye was born on June 10, 1951 at Makurdi, Benue State. However, he hails from Ifite Ukpo in Njikoka Local Govern ment Area of Anambra State. His parents, late Chief M. N. Okoye and Mrs. Okoye had twelve children. He got married to the former Miss Grace Mva on February 12, 1980. Mrs. Okoye who was born July 14, 1960 is still a student. A devout christian, Mr. Okoye attended St. Mary's Catholic School, Makurdi from 1956 to 1959 and St. Michael's School, Enugu from 1960 to 1963. His insatiable appetitie for knowledge pro pelled h,m to attend St. Mary's High School in his home town, Ifite Ukpo from 1964 to 1970 Also, m1971 he attended Christ King College Onitsha. ' He widened his frontier of knowledge by at tending the University of Nigeria, Nsukka from 1971 to 1976 and graduated with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering in 1976. He has membership of the A.M.I NE in 1977 and the A.M.I.C.E. the following year.' During his period at the University of Nigeria Nsukka, he was elected welfare officer of the Aja Wachukwu Hall in 1972/73 session. He worked with P.A.B. Consultants, Lagos between 1976 and 1977 before joining Gusten Holdings Ltd. Enugu from 1977 to 1979. When the ban on political activities was lifted by the last military administration, Mr. Okoye joined the Nigeria Peoples Party. Now he represents Njikoka North Constituency, Anam bra State, the House of Representatives'. Hon. Okoye has travelled widely to Italy, U.S.A., U.K., France, Western Germany ana- Rumania. At his leisure hours, he is interested in play ing lawn and table tennis as well as reading. He also finds time to attend film shows and seminars.
