Muhammad Adamu Aliero was born in Aliero, Aliero Local Government Area of Kebbi State, Nigeria, on January 1st, 1957. He is a former governor of Kebbi, Senator and Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.Aliero attended Islamic school where he had his earliest education experience. He had his elementary education at Aliero Town Planning School, after which he attended the Government Secondary School in Koko and graduated in 1976.He began undergraduate studies in 1977 at Ahmadu Bello University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science in 1980.In 1981, Aliero got a job as an administrative officer at the College of Education in Sokoto. In the same year, he joined the Nigeria Customs and Excise Service. In 1997, he resigned from the Customs and Excise Service and started a private business, dealing in export and import trade. He became the governor of Kebbi State from May 29th, 1999 to May 29th, 2007 under the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). During his time, he was credited as the builder of modern Kebbi State. He is said to have picked the state from a status of an impoverished entity unable to even pay workers salaries and lifted it to one that sets the pace in remuneration of workers. While other States did battle with their workers before a kobo is added, Kebbi workers woke from sleep to find a new pay pack on the table. He was succeeded by Usman Sa'idu Nasamu Dakingari. He was also the Senator that represented Kebbi Central from June 5th, 2007 till December 18th, 2008 when he was appointed Minister of the Federal Capital Territory by former president Umaru Musa Yar'adua in December 2008. He left office in March 2010 when acting president Goodluck Jonathan dissolved the cabinet.A devote Muslim, Aliero is married to three wives - Maimuna, Zainab and Aaliyah.
