NWANKPA, Emmanuel Benedict Ebelechukwu

Date of Birth: Tuesday (Eke) August 22, 1944 State of Origin: Enugu Rotarian Nwankpa Ebelechukwu is a humanitarian and philanthropist who has done much both locally and internationally to the growth ofthe nation. His benevolence has made him become the first African in 100 years to receive the inguest award in Rotary International. Nwankpa believes that helping people engage in self-sustaining economic ventures is a cardinal humanitarian and philanthropist service because of the positive consequences. As an industrialist, he also believes that the future of the nations economy lies with the small and medium scale industries (SMIEs) materials to recreate a new wealth base and employment. If given maximum support, will have impact on the reduction of poverty and diseases among the people and on the overall growth of the economy" he affirms. His life's ambition is to continue to promote the philosophy of common good in our downtrodden society, that is to ensure the greatest good for ihe greatest number, to entrench the virtue of service above self and to do everything within his means to create employment, build shellers for and empower the poor. Contributions to the States/National Development • As governor of District 9140 covering the 11 states South East and South-South States, he refurbished Eket Federal Prisons and the installation ol'a water tank for the inmates • The club under him installed a Cancer Screening Machine at the Abia State University College of Medicine • The club also built and furnished motherless babies home at the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd. (Anglican Communion) Enugu • Nwankpa also supervised the construction of an 11 -room, toilet block with facilities at Warri Prisons 1Ie equally donated soap making equipment lo the inmates of Onitsha Federal Prisons • IIe embarks on campaign against the dreaded sickle cell disease, such was achieved through the sponsorship o\' free genotype screening tests throughout the 11 states I Ie further, successfully championed the admission of women into the Rotary Club. Rotarian Nwankpa is a philanthropist and a humanitarian who champions the cause ofthe downtrodden and the less privileged. His benevolence has made him an Icon of repute.
