OKOLI, Uzo Obi

State of Origin: Anambra Chief Mrs Uzo Obi Okoli was appointed an Honourable Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development in Anambra State Nigeria in 1999. In 2001. she became Special Adviser to the Governor on Solid Mineral Resources and Energy and served in that capacity till 2003 when she relinquished office. Education • She trained in the UK for all her Nursing and Midwifery Career. Job Experience • Worked for some years in UK as Registered Nurse and Certified Midwife • Served in Nigeria too • An Industrialist- Member of Board of Orient Petroleum • Politician lion Commissioner for Women Affairs • Special Adviser to the Governor on Solid Mineral Resources and Energy Community Development and National Service • She has been on the vanguard of social welfare and development of the less privilege. • As a Nurse midwife, a carer and human resources expert, she knew much of the sufferings of Ihe people and has done a lot to alleviate the hardship imposed on lough economic situation • As a Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, she improved ihe standard of living of the women and empowered them to a life of self sufficiency. • Contributed a lot lo the improvement of socio economic development of Anambra State • Founded a Non-Governmental Organisation ( NGO) Mother Theresa Foundation whose aim is lo render love, care and service to the underprivileged in society especially orphans. She has been doing ibis creditably for many years, unsung. • Elevated the Nursing Profession in Nigeria to the position of high class as it is in many civilised countries of the Wesl Awards and Honours • Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International- honoured for many years of selfless service to the people • Florence Nightingale Fellow- a recognition for her caring ministry as a Nurse Midwife for many years of effective and competent care for the poor and underprivileged. • Chieftaincy titles from a number of places.
