He has been a strong role model to those in the profession who are either doing the engineering as an academic disciple, or in production and invention or in industries a way of serving the society. A senior citizen who is an Icon of integrity, Professor Ezilo belongs to a generation of Igbo academics and top professionals who were motivated to aim high purely for the love of service and knowledge not for material gains or fame. He never sought power, fame or material success but the progress and development of the people and society. That is why we still respect him as an Icon not only for the IGBO but for the world but proud that he is from the Igbo noble ancestral extraction. He is a part of Igbo contribution to the progress of the entire world ofacademia and technological progress. Dept, University ofNigeria Nsukka, 1965 • He later became Vice Chancellor Membership of Professional Bodies • Memberof several scientific,academic and professional associationsand had contributed to the growth of Engineering as an academic discipline in Nigerian universities. He is one of the Indigenous lecturers to introduce academic study of Engineering in the first University in Nigeria, the University ofNigeria Nsukka that established Engineering at a degree level. Professor Ezilo was at the vanguard of that breakthrough. Other colonial colleges of Engineering in Nigeria offered Engineering at Diploma level. • Member, Nigerian Society of Engineers • Member, American Society of Engineering Education Contributions to the Society and World of Academia and Profession • Held many administrativeand teaching as well as research posts in the universities. • Supervised manygraduateand undergraduate students andproduced higher degreestudents whoare nowteaching anddevelopingmanynew departments of Engineering in institutionsof Higher Learningin Nigeria, • Consultant to many industries and research institutes both locally and internationally. • Sat at many Committees and Board of universities and companies • Designed and produced many projects within and outside the countries. • Professor Ezilo plays and enjoys indoor games. He is married and they are blessed with three children.
