Reuben Onwuegbuna Okeke is an electrical engineer born to the family of Philip Mokwe and Madam Christiana Chinelo Okeke of Mgbuke Onidi in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra Stale, on 4Ih Aumist. 1953. Education • St Philip's Central School Akpakogwe Ogidi • Merchant of Light School Oba, (MOLS) WASC 1972 • University of Lagos, 1973 1977 B.Sc Hons Electrical Engineering Job Experience • Employed by National Electric Power Authority (NEPA) in his final year in the University • NYSC with NEPA 1977 1978 • Fully employed by NEPA August 4Ih 1978 • Maintenance Superintendent Engineer ( MS) for AJELE Service Centre 1982- the centre responsible for distribution of, maintenance and sales of electricity for the entire Lagos Islands, • Operational and Maintenance Superintendent for the entire Islands District as Senior Engineer 1984 • Principal Engineer 1985 transferred to Corporate Headquarters of NEPA at Marina and served as District Services Department ( DSD) • Recognized as the Best Engineer among his peers in 1986 and was given the responsibility to serve as the Head of District Office- and sent to head Warri District Office in 1986- the youngest to ever do that. • In 1988, the then Hon. Minister of Power and Steel, Engr. Bunu Sheri If wanted to post the Best NEPA Engineer to head Maiduguri District Office and posted Mr Reuben O. Okeke to Maiduguri as Assistant Chief Engineer. • District Manager Maiduguri 1988- 1992 • Promoted Chief Engineer and posted to Jos District he thus became the youngest engineer to head a Grade 'A' District in the whole NEPA Establishment • Posted to Ijora District in 1993- to head a district with staff strength of 1,055 and highest customers of 115, 000 with asset base of ten million naira. Two years later in 1995, the District became the No 1 District among the six Districts in Lagos, a position it has never had before the arrival of Mr. Reuben O. Okeke. • Redeployed to Ikeja in 1996- the biggest and largest in Nigeria in terms of Revenue Generation. He raised the revenue earnings from 85 million Naira to 106 million Naira per month. The District became the first throughout the Authority to cross the lOO million Naira mark.. The district won the best District of the Year Award for Lagos Zone three consecutive times and won the trophy for keeps in 1999. • Assistant General Manager Distribution for Lagos Zone in 1999 • General Manager Lagos Zone 2002 February. • Transferred to Corporate Headquarters Abuja as General Manager Distribution , a post he was regarded as Defacto Director ( Distribution) • Currently he is heading one of the two big companies of NEPA in Lagos- the Company at Ikeja Distribution Zone as its Chief Operating Officer ( COO) to meet the requirements of Preparations for Privatisation of NEPA Attended many courses in and out of the country in the course of his career development. As part of his contribution to his community, a one by 15MVA 33/11KV Injection Substation and 12 No. distribution substations were constructed, commissioned in his home-town Ogidi. Membership of Professional Bodies • He is a chartered Engineer • Member, Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria ( COREN) • Fellow of Nigerian Society of Engineers ( FNSE) • Member of Ikoyi Club • Member of Country Club Ikeja He plays Squash, listens to good music.
