(NPP) was born at Amiri in Oru Local Government Area on December 28, 1939. He was educated at St. Peter Claver's Seminary Okpala in Owerri Local Government Area, the Bigard Memorial Seminary, Enugu; St. John's University, Minnesota, U.S.A., Seton Hall University, South Orange, N.J.; State University of New York, U.S.A.; Albany and Fordham University, New York, U.S.A. He holds B.A. (Political Science and Philosophy); Certificate in Public Administration; M.A. (Education Administration); Ph.D. (Education Administration). Dr. Okibedi taught at the Awo-Omamma Comprehensive Secondary School before going to United States of America. He was a lecturer in African History, Seton Hall University, 1965-67; Assistant Professor of Education, Essex County College, U.S.A. 1968-70; Director of Research and Grants, Essex County College, 1971-72, Director of Grants Management, Montelair State College, U.S.A. 1973-74; Principal Education Officer, Federal Ministry of Education, Lagos, 1974-78. He was the Director of Careers, Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu, before his election to Imo State House of Assembly in July, 1979. He is the Deputy Speaker of the House. Dr. Okibedi is married and has six children. He likes gardening, music, reading and tennis. His philosophy is social justice, straightforwardness and pragmatism.
