He was born on December 20, 1949 in his hometown Bashar, in Plateau State. He attended, Bashar and Pankshin Primary Schools, 1956-1963; Barewa College, Zaria, 1964-1970 and Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria, between 1972\u20141978 where he graduated as a medical doctor, Dr. Yusuf Amin later went to ABU Post graduate Medical School from 1982-1985. He served as Medical Superintendent, General Hospital, Langtang, 1980\u20141982; Head of Department of Obstertrics and Gynaecology, Plateau Hospital, Jos, 1985-1986 and as Zonal Medical Co-coordinator Pankshin (1986\u2014 He is married with four children.
