He was born in Omum Unyam, Akwa Ibom State on September 23, 1956. He attended St. Augustine&#8217;s Secondary School, Abak, where he obtained his West African School Certificate in 1973 and St. Mary&#8217;s Teachers&#8217; College for his Teachers&#8217; Grade II Certificate in 1975. He holds a B.Sc. (Hons.) from the University of Calabar. Mr. Okuwa is a farmer, trader and general contractor, and also the Managing-Director of Mannue Enterprises and Chairman of Nokulex Enterprises. He was the Director of Culture, Students Union, University of Calabar.
