He was born on January 3, 1950 in his home town, Gezawa, Kano State. He obtained B.Sc. (Political Science) in 1977 and Master&#8217;s degree in Public Administration in 1982. Mallam Idris has held various responsible positions in Government. He was Secretary, Kano State Tenders Board; Sole Administrator, Kano Municipal Local Government and currently Director of Educational Services, Military Governor&#8217;s Office, Kano. He is married and blessed with six children.
