He is one of the 22 children of the Village Head of Kankara, Mr. Jobe Abubakar. His mother,&#8221; Madam Fatsimatu Abubakar, had seven children. He attended the Kankara Elementary School from 1945 1949 and the Katsina Middle School from 1949 &#8211; 53 where he obtained a middle IV certificate. In 1954, he entered the Kano, Dispensary At tendants&#8217; Training School and obtained the Kano Dispensary Attendant&#8217;s Certificate in 1955. Alhaji Magaji worked as a dispensary assis tant at the Kaduna Ministry of Health and was promoted to the rank of leprosy inspector in 1961, and senior leprosy inspector in 1966. Alhaji Magaji Kankara distinguished himself in his field and was promoted to the post of Rural Health Superintendent in 1969. Alhaji Magaji Kankara, is a moslem bv faith. He is married to Bilkisu and Saadiya, and has 14 children. .
