Dr. Richard Ikiebe serves as Senior Fellow and pioneer Director of the Center for Leadership in Journalism at the School of Media Communication (SMC) at Pan Atlantic University in Lagos, Nigeria. He holds a PhD in Media\/Communication from the University of Westminster, London, United Kingdom, where he is currently a
\nVisiting Scholar. Ikiebe also holds an MA degree in International Relations from Ohio University, Athens, USA; a BA in Journalism from University of Wisconsin, USA; and a Diploma in Journalism from the Nigerian Institute of Journalism, Lagos, Nigeria.<\/p>\n
Ikiebe has an exceptional range of experience in journalism, public communication and the private sector operations. He has worked in the media, as a public communicator and teacher, designing and managing effective communications strategies for both the private and public sector organisations. He started his journalism career as Reporter\/Features Writer with the Daily Times 1978. He later worked with the Pan African-News Agency, Dakar, Senegal; Newswatch Magazine; as communications policy adviser to the Federal Minister of Information; Special Adviser in the Presidency, Office of the Chief of General Staff; Executive Director\/CEO Nigerian American Chamber of Commerce, and CEO, Raitas Ltd (a firm of Communications and Media Consultants).<\/p>\n
Ikiebe also served as World Bank Consultant to the Federal Ministry of Information and the Bureau for Public Enterprises (BPE); and also as Communication Consultant to Vision 2010 and the AU, among others. Ikiebe has remained active within the Nigerian media and business communities in non-executive capacities; he currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of BusinessDay Newspapers and Board Chairman of TechPoint.ng, an online technology media organisation. Previously, he served as Vice-Chairman of the Board, Cornerstone Insurance Plc.; Member, Board of the Nigerian Investment Promotion Council; and Member, Global Communication Certification Council, International Association of Business Communicators (IABC).<\/p>\n
He has organised and led, as well as participated, in several Nigerian trade and investment missions outside Nigeria.
