He was educated at St. Gregory&#8217;s School Umuhu Okwuato (1953 &#8211; I960), and Ngwa Technical School, Aba, (1962 &#8211; 1965). He holds the intermediate certificate of the City and Guilds, London, and a diploma certificate in engineering. He worked as supervisor in the Western Sudan Importers and Exporters, Kano, (1971 &#8211; 1972). He went into private business in December 1972 as aquantity surveyor and building contractor.
