Dr. Nnamdi Eriobuna is a Medical Doctor (Physician) and a Politician.<br \/>\nHe hails from Ihembosi, Ekwusigo Local Government Area of Anambra<br \/>\nState. He was born on 6 th November, 1948. Started his primary school<br \/>\neducation in Ihembosi continued at St. Peter Clavers Central School Nnewi.<br \/>\nHe obtained his West African School and Cambridge Higher School<br \/>\nCertificates from Okongwu Memorial Grammar School, Nnewi and St.<br \/>\nTeresa\u2019s College Nsukka respectively.<br \/>\nHe graduated with the Doctor of Medicine (M.D) Degree from State Medical<br \/>\nInstitute, Kalinin (TVER), Russia in 1978. He earned the qualification of<br \/>\nfellow international college of Angiology, New York, USA (F.i.c.a) in 1989.<br \/>\nOn returning to Nigeria after his graduation, he worked briefly as a Senior<br \/>\nHouse Officer in the Department of Medicine of the University of Nigeria<br \/>\nTeaching Hospital, Enugu in 1979. He later moved to become the Medical<br \/>\nDirector of Maimuna Allah Ya-Raya Hospital, Kano between 1981 and 1984.<br \/>\nAs the Proprietor\/Medical Director of St. George\u2019s Hospital and Maternity,<br \/>\nOnitsha (1984 \u2013 1999), he was compassionate to the patients and<br \/>\ndedicated to his duties. He later moved the hospital to the Nations Capital<br \/>\nCity, Abuja, and has been its Chief Medical Director since 2005. He is also<br \/>\nthe founder and chairman of Ugondech\u2019s International Limited, an outfit<br \/>\nwhich was incorporated in 1992.<br \/>\nSenator Eriobuna foray into politics dates back to 1989. A year later (1990)<br \/>\nhe was elected as the Treasurer of the Onitsha L.G.A chapter of the Liberal<br \/>\nConvention, which was then an unregistered political association.<\/p>\n<p>He was the gubernatorial candidate of the National Republican Convention<br \/>\n(NRC) for Anambra State in 1990 and a Presidential Aspirant of the same<br \/>\nparty under option A-4 in 1993.<br \/>\nRecently in 2014, he incorporated Divine Healthcare and Aid Foundation, a<br \/>\nnon-governmental organization for fighting infectious and communicable<br \/>\ndiseases in the country.<br \/>\nHis standing in the Nation\u2019s Political terrain indeed, reached climactic<br \/>\nheight in 1999, when he was elected as the Senator to represent Anambra<br \/>\nSouth Senatorial Zone on the platform of The People\u2019s Democratic Party.<br \/>\nAside from his leadership at various times of two of the most powerful<br \/>\nSenate Committees:<br \/>\n1) Senate Committee on Defence (Army, Airforce and Navy) and<br \/>\n2) Senate Committee on Power<br \/>\nHe was former vice chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, Member<br \/>\nCommittee on Ethics and Privileges. He was a member of the National<br \/>\nHealth Insurance Scheme Consultative Committee in 2000 where he<br \/>\nrepresented the Senate.<br \/>\nSenator, Dr. Nnamdi Eriobuna was a member of the 2014 National<br \/>\nConference where he represented the Senators\u2019 Forum. He was appointed<br \/>\nthe chairman of the Health sub-committee of the committee on social<br \/>\nsector.<br \/>\nOn Wednesday the 27 th of January, 2016, he was sworn in as a member of<br \/>\nthe Governing Board of the National Issues Forum of Nigeria which is a<br \/>\npublic conversation project led by the Centre for Dialogue, Conversation<br \/>\nand Public Accountability in Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>Presently, he is a member of Anambra State\u2019s Elders\u2019 Advisory Council.<br \/>\nSen. Nnamdi Eriobuna used his political clout to benefit his people. He has<br \/>\nencouraged several young men and women to join the Nigerian Military.<br \/>\nAssisted several brilliant students from his constituency to secure<br \/>\nscholarship from the British Chevenin Scholarship Scheme.<br \/>\nHe belongs to several professional bodies including the Nigeria Medical<br \/>\nAssociation, The Guide of Medical Directors of Nigeria, Catholic Doctors<br \/>\nAssociation, Association of Private Medical Practitioners of Nigeria, The<br \/>\nRoyal Life Saving Society of Nigeria and The Commonwealth. He is the<br \/>\nChartered President of the Onitsha Chapter of the Junior Chambers<br \/>\nInternational (JAYCEES) which is a non-governmental organization on<br \/>\nworldwide leadership development. In 2009, he was given Development in<br \/>\nNigeria Merit Award by PRS.
