He attended his primary school at St. James Primary School, Okitipupa from 1951 to 1956. He entered Modern Secondary School and did his teachers&#8217; training course at St. Peter&#8217;s Teachers&#8217; College, Akure from 1962 to 1964. Mr. Okoye was a student of the University of Ife from 1971-74 and the University of Sheffield from 1975-76. He holds the B.A. (Hons) English and M.A. (Distinction) also in English. Mr. Okoye has held many teaching appointments including teacher, De La Salle Secondary Modern School, Akure, Ondo State, 1965-66; tutor, Corpus Christie College, Dame-Ekiti, Ondo State, 1970-71; lecturer, Kwara State College of Technology, Ilorin, 1974-77 and lecturer, University of Ilorin, 1977-79. His research works include the Literary function of proverbs in Achebe&#8217;s Novels; Art and Commit ment in Alex La Guma&#8217;s A Walk in the Night; Imagery of Rebirth in Okigbo&#8217;s poetry; Soyinka: PowerPopulace Relationship and the Revo lutionary Ideal, and the Moral and Social Vision in Ngugi&#8217;s novels. He has attended seminars and courses related to the teaching of English and African Literature in Universities.
