He attended Bajoga Primary School 1967-1972 for his Primary education. Between 1972-1977 he attended Doma Secondary School, Gombe. In 1977 Professor Umar gained admission into Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria where he graduated with B.Sc.(Hons) Chemistry in 1981. After his National Service, he was appointed a Graduate Assistant at the Ahmadu Bello University in 1982. In 1983 Professor Umar was awarded a study fellowship by the University during which he completed his M.Sc. (1984) and PhD.(l987) at University of Salford, England. He returned from Study Fellowship in 1987 and joined the Centre for Energy Research and Training (CERT) ABU, Zaria, as a Research fellow while also teaching in the Department of Physics. During this period, Professor Umar was involved in research, teaching and students supervision. As part of his research output his conference paper was awarded the ELF\/NMOS prize for the best scientific paper in 1995. In 1991, Professor Umar was appointed Head of Materials Science and Development section of the Centre and became the Director of centre in 1998. He was the Director for eight (8) years. Under his leadership the first Research Nuclear Reactor was installed and commissioned in Nigeria. this put the country on the world map as a country with a Nuclear Research Reactor which led to the then Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Dr. Mohammed El Baradei to visit Nigeria and the Centre.<br \/>\nProfessor Umar was also at the Energy Commission of Nigeria as<br \/>\nDirector Nuclear Science and Technology, from 1st November, 2006-<br \/>\n30th October, 2007.<br \/>\nHe becmne the Deputy Vice &#8211; Chancellor, Gombe State University from<br \/>\n2009-2014.<br \/>\nAnd in September 2014 Professor Ibrahim Musa Umar, OON became the<br \/>\nVice Chancellor of Gombe State University.<br \/>\nProfessor Ibrahim Musa Umar a widely travelled scholar has attended<br \/>\nnumerous conferences, seminars and workshops on Energy and Nuclear<br \/>\nrelated International events organized by the International Atomic<br \/>\nEnergy Agency (IAEA) Vienna, Austria and other related bodies.<br \/>\nHe is Happily Married with children<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":7,"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"template":"","categories":[176],"writer":[],"class_list":["post-21361","biography","type-biography","status-publish","hentry","category-academia"],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/blerf.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/biography\/21361","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/blerf.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/biography"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/blerf.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/biography"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blerf.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/7"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/blerf.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/biography\/21361\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/blerf.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=21361"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blerf.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=21361"},{"taxonomy":"writer","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/blerf.org\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/writer?post=21361"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
