She attended the Mayflower Junior School, Ikenne (1968 \u2013 1970), the Mayflower School, Ikenne (1971 \u2013 1975) and the Federal Government Girls College, Oyo (1975 \u2013 1977) for her Primary, Secondary and Higher Schools. Prof. Obilade is a Professor of Adult Education and Women Studies from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria. She was the Head of Department, Department of Continuing Education at the Obafemi Awolowo University at the time of her appointment as Vice-Chancellor of the Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun state.<br \/>\nShe holds the Bachelor of Education Degree (History\/English, 1980) and the Master of Arts Degree in Adult Education (1984) of the University of Ife. She later obtained her doctoral degree, Ph.D in Adult Education from the Obafemi Awolowo University in 1992. She holds the 2006 Executive Business Education Certificates of both the Harvard University Business School (USA) and the Cambridge University Judge Business School (UK). In the 2005\/2006 academic session she was an International Women\u2019s Federal (IWF) Leadership Foundation Fellow as well as the HERS-SA Grant Fellow. In 2008 she was a grant Fellow of the African Women\u2019s Development Fund (AWDF) which gave her the opportunity to complete a certificate course in Resource Mobilization at the Ghana Institute for Management and Public Administration (GHANA). Prof. Obilade has over 32 years experience as a university lecturer.<br \/>\nProf. Obilade\u2019s research interest is in the tripartite area of adult education, gender and development with focus on a contextual critical appreciation of the interface of different matrices of domination with gender in development within patriarchal culture and she has over 35 publications in reputable academic books and journals. Her areas of expertise addresses the broad areas of gender and development; women\u2019s reproductive health and HIV\/AIDS, gender mainstreaming, girl-child education, as well as monitoring and evaluation of projects. She is a consultant trainer\/researcher on gender issues to several National\/International organizations and Women\u2019s Right groups; and has assisted several nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) such as Farmers Development Union (FADU), Environmental Rights Action (ERA), Women\u2019s Advocate Research and Documentation Centre (WARDC) to mainstream gender into organizational activities\/policies and programmes. Prof. Obilade is a co-founder, member Board of Trustee and treasurer of an NGO, Women Against Rape, Sexual Harassment and Sexual Exploitation (WARSHE) which is committed to training, advocacy and provision of comprehensive support (medical, legal, economic, emotional and social support) for victims of sexual violence and abuse as well as their families.<br \/>\nProf. Oluyemisi Obilade was a member of a three-person consultancy team to UNIFEM\/Nigeria Police for the development of a Gender Policy for the Nigeria Police Force. She is also currently a consultant to the UNFPA\/WARDC project on Root Causes of Gender-Based Violence in South-Western Nigeria. She holds membership of the following professional bodies\/associations- the Nigeria National Council of Adult Education (NNCAE); International Sociological Association (ISA); Adult Educational and Poverty Reduction Network, (CRANDALL), UK: Fellow, International Women\u2019s Forum Leadership Foundation, Washington DC., USA; Fellow,HERS Academy, Cape Town, South Africa; and Member, Association of Women\u2019s Rights in Development (AWID), Canada among others. Prof. Obilade was a former Commissioner for Education in Osun State in 1999.
