He is a Professor of Solid State Physics\/Materials Science. Professor Ibanga started his career as a lecturer in University of Calabar, Cross River State in 1982. He was later appointed Professor of Physics in University of Uyo in 2008 and was also Head of Physics Department and Dean of Student Affairs in the same University.  Professor Ibanga is a renowned Physics lecturer who is sought after by many universities in Nigeria. His experience as external examiner extends to University of Abuja; Ladoke Akintola University of Science and Technology, Ogbomosho; University of Ilorin, Kwara and Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife.
