A product of King&#8217;s College, Lagos, Professor Essang had his B.Sc. (Economics) degree from the University of Ibadan in 1964. He was awarded his Mas ter&#8217;s and Doctorate degrees in Agri cultural Economics by the University of Michigan, USA. He was Head of the Department of Economics, Uni versity of Calabar (1976-1979) and the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the same University. Professor Essang was Minister of Finance before his present appoint ment.
