MHA, ASIWAJU OF OFFA ORGANISING SECRETARY, ACTION GROUP (AG) Mr.Josiah Sunday Olawayin was born in Ilorin in 1925 aauallyfrom Offa in thepresentKwara State. Hisfather was aprominent Church MinisterandPatron/Founder of Iyeru OkinAfrican Church. Sunday Olawqyin was astudent of St. Mark's School, Offa, Offa GrammarSchoolandIbadan City Collegefrom 193247 before taking employment with theNigerian Railway. He wasalso employedasaWeighing Clerk with the British Cotton GrowersAssociationBCGA. Formost of his life, he was aTrader andPolitician who came topoliticallimelight with his election as the Publicity Secretary of the Middle Belt People's Party in 1953. That sameyear 1953, he started associating with Chief Obafemi Awolowo during the 1953 Constitutional Conference in London. He later became the Organising Secretary of Action Group. His position first as the General Secretary of the League of Northern Yoruhas and second Administrative Secretary of the Offa Descendants Unionprovidedhim the opportunity to engineeraco-operation between Ilorin andKabba Provincesso astoprovideapedestalforacontinuousaaualisation ofAG'sstrategies againsttheNorth. Mr. Olawqyin wasamemberof Northern House of Assembly between 1956-1961, andalso amemberof Western NigeriaFinance Corporation, Ibadan,from 1957 to 1962. He was the DireaorofNewNigerian Newspapers Umited 1968-79. He was the Governorship CandidateforKwara State under UnityParty of Nigeria in 1979. He was astaunch supporter of Chief ObafemiAwolowo both in theAction Group of the First Republic and the UnityParty of Nigeria (UPN) of thesecondrepublic. He diedon the 10th of Oaober, 2000.
