Chika was given the role of Joseph Okoroigwe Nwogho by James Iroha the Creator of the Play, who took up the role of Giringory, the naive and foolish honest houseboy. and gave Davis Offor the part of Clams the smart and clever houseboy. This formed the nucleus of the popular New Masquerade which was later introduced in the Nigerian Television Authority. National Network. Chief Chika Okpala also performed in the popular Ukonu's Club of NTA Aba. • Participated in Cock's Crow at Dawn in the 1980s I Travelled extensively to perform- including the trip to Sierra Leone in 1986 on the invitation of the President Siaka Stevens who on Chika's performance expressed his joy and satisfaction. • Featured in other prominent plays and commercials • He has written a lot of programmes eg. Aim Ike Di Mkpa- developed after attending a Workshop organised by Family Health International (Fill) in Awka. Other programmes by Chief Chika Okpala was Ogologo Ndu- Long Life- for John Hopkins Awards and Honours Many awards, certificates of merit, accolades and letters of commendation. • Honoured by his country with the two major National Awards, — The Member ofthe Order oftheNiger (MON) and the Commander of the Federal Repuhlicf CFR) • Belongs lo the Nigeria's Elite Club but addresses himself as Palm Wine Powerless • Respected Chieftaincy titles from many communities. ChiefChika Okpala is a very gifted artist who from childhood had been playing the role of a chief or an old man to the admiration of his viewers and mates. He is an icon who has developed a talent without depending on mere academic qualifications. Through thus; he has touched many souls for good in a humorous way.
