IHEKWEAZU, Hon. S. M. C.

was born in his home town Amaigbo on September 10, 1937. He represents Nkwere/Amaigbo Constituency in ImoState in the House of Representatives on the platform of the Nigeria Peoples Party. He had his primary education at Government School, Aba from 1943 to 1950. From 1951 he was at Saint Patricks College, Calabar where he sat for the West African School Certificate exa mination. Hon. Ihekweazu read Law at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, from 1972 to 1976. After passing the LLB exams in 1976 he was admitted into the Nigerian Law School, Lagos and called to the bar in 1977. Career wise, Hon. Ihekweazu joined the Police Force in 1957 as a Cadet Sub-Inspector and rose to the rank of Superintendent in 1967. While in the Force he attended a course at the Detective Training School, Wakefield, England in 1959. Hewas elected into the Nkwere/lsu Local Government Council as a Councillor in 1977. A Christian by religion he is married and has four children. His late father, Mr. Michael C. Ihekweazu was a trader and had fifteen children while his mother Mrs. Jessie Ihekweazu had two. Hon. Ihekweazu has visited England, Zaire, USA and Western Germany. His hobby is table tennis.
