OGWE, Hon. Chief Kalu Ogwe

is on the platform of the Nigerian Peoples Party in the House of Representatives. He presents Bende Constituency, Imo State. He was born on the 31st of December, 1937 at Amaiyi, Igbere. He started his early elementary schooling at Igbere Central School in 1944, and later went over to Nkporo Central School from 1944 to 1945 and finally finished up at Ikom Church of Scotland Mission, a Presbyterian School from 1946 to 1948. He had his secondary education at the Eastern Academy, in Onitsha from 1949 to 1950. During this time also he was preparing for a Diploma Course in Business Organisation and Management of the London School of Com merce, which he passed excellently in 1954. He later sat for the G.C.E. Biographical overview

Barrister-at-Law Diploma from the Nigerian Law School in 1973. He worked as an Inspector of Lands at the Ministry of Works, Land and Housing in Enugu in 1966. He became the Senior Assistant Registrar of Lands in Imo State in 1975. He was later promoted Senior State Council at the Ministry of Justice Owerri, Imo State. He left the Ministry of Justice Owerri, Imo State to become a Private Legal Practitioner in Owerri, Imo State from 1978 to 1979. Honourable Chief Ogwe Kalu Ogwe is mar ried with eight children. Honourable Chief Ogwe is one of the ten children of Lage Malu Ogwe, a farmer of Amaiyi Igbere and Madam Orieji Kalu Ogwe (Miss Orieji Ekcoma). Honourable Ogwe Kalu Ogwe has written many Newspaper articles and books. Two of his books are:- "Economics of Modern Nigeria" and "Critique of the History of Igbere People". Among his many hobbies are reading, writing and games such as "Ekwo". He has visited Britain, Norways, Holland, Germany (East and West Berlin), U.S.A. and Canada.
