in 1962 - 1963 and another in Public and Municipal Administration from the American University, Washington D.C., in the same year (1963). Hon. lyayi started his career as a Clerk and Secretary/Treasurer in the Ishan Division Native Authority in 1943. He acquired many years of working experience, especially as an Administrative Officer from 1957 until his appointment as a Permanent Secretary (Administrative Officer, Senior Staff Grade) in June 1975. He retired in that grade in September of the same year. Hon. lyayi got married to Felicia Enehomere in 1946 and they now have twelve (12) children. Hon. lyayi has visited the United States of America, Great Britain, Western Germany, Austria and Hungary. His hobbies are reading, drawing, painting and lawn tennis. He is a member of a number of clubs and societies among which are the Historical Socie ty of Nigeria and the Nigeria Arts Society. He is deeply involved in community self-help ac tivities under the aegis of Ugbegun Welfare Association of which he is a Patron. Hon. lyayi who is a Christian of Roman Catholic faith said that his early life has been considerably influenced by his mother's humili ty, hospitality and kindness and his father's hardwork, discipline and integrity.
