till 1966 when the Nigerian crisis erupted. From 1970-73, he ran and edited another daily, "The Niger Herald" and was a member of the Onitsha Divisional School Management Board from 1970-76. In 1975 he became vice-chairman of the Onitsha Urban Council, a posi tion he held until 1976 when he was elected LG Chairman. He also served on the Star Printing and Publishing Company Limited from 1976-79. For all his exposure to foreign cul ture, Mr. Ifeka still believes strongly in our traditional system of values and indeed says his religion is "African traditional." He is a trado-priest and belongs to the coveted Agbalanze Society of Onitsha, having been initia ted with the title of Ojinnaka. During his university days in Lon don, he won an election to the post of President of Birkbeck College, London Philosophy Society and held same for two years running, 1 unique achieve ment for an African then. He was elected deputy leader of the pre-War Dynamic Party; and, in later years, emerged leader of the-Ogbaru/ Onitsha group of councillors in Oni tsha Urban Council. Mr. Ifeka has five publications to his credit, two of which dwell on "Onitsha Social Heritage" and "Onit sha Kingship Institution." A widely travelled man', Mr. Ifeka has been to Britain (where he lived for for 12 years) Canada, Hungary, Ger many, France, Czechoslovakia, Italy U.S.A., etc., etc. He is a lawn tennis enthusiast, and loves music and photography. Mr. Ifeka is married to Rose Nkiruka and has six children.
