He actually became the T in command to then Major Maimalari in the "B» Company of the? Battalion in thefirstNigerian experience in the Congo. At the height of his military career, he became the Commanding Officer of the 4* Battalion of the Nigerian Army. He was one of the few officers, who had shown great promise of gallantry and courage and could be depended upon any time to defend the territorial integrity of theirfatherland. But he suffered martyrdom at the hands of afew disgruntledandjeakus officers in asensekss andone-sidedcoup on the if ofJanuary, 1966.
