Alhaji Adamu Matoya was born in 1924 and hails from Gumel in Kano State. He is a muslim by religion while his parents are Alhaji Umaru, a farmer, and Hajiya Maryama. He got married to Hajiya Raltima in 194-3 and has two children. After going through the Primary and Middle schools in Kano he attended the Bauchi Teachers Training College in 1939. In 1946 he became the headmaster at the Gumel Primary School. He acted as an Executive Officer in 1968 and in the following year he became the Councillor of Establishment and Finance. He was a part-time commissioner with the Local Government Service Board and also worked as Councillor in the Gumel Local Government. Alhaji Matoya has visited Saudi Arabia. He takes interest in horse riding. And he isan N.P.N, member in the House of Representatives for the Gumel South Consti tuency in Kano State.
