Asrequiredof children of the royal house hold, he went to the Qur'anic School and dedicated his early childhood to learning by heart the Qur'an and Hadith. Heattended the Yola Elementary Schoolfrom 1934-1937, Yola Middle Schoolfrom 1937-1942, Institute of Administration ZariaandPolice CollegesinLagos, Kaduna andEnugu. Hestarted work intheAdamawa NA. asa Clerk inthe Central Office in 1943 andafter his Police Training he became the Chief of Police with the title of WaUnAdamawa,from 1945-1953. Thatyear 1953, he was installedthe Lamido ofAdamawa insuccession to the dynasty started by thegreatModibo Adama one of the distinguishedflag bearers ofShehu Usman Danfodio, Healso becameMemberof theNorthern House of Chiefs by virtue of his beinga Northern Traditional ruler. His ascension to the throne coincided with the conscious efforts at Naionalism and developmentalprogrammes ofthe North. Heusedhisposition as theLamidoofAdamawa to assistin developing his area.
