Littk wonder when he ventured into politics under the then popular Northern Peopks Congress NPC in 1961, he was ekaed unopposed into tbeNortbern Houseof Assembly representing the area. That sameyear 1961, hewasappointed ParliamentarySecretary'NorthernMinistry of'Worksand'served'till 1962 when he was moved into theMinistry of Animal and Forest Resources. Heserved there before he was moved again in 1965 to the Ministry of Agriculture where he was until the bkody sensekss coup of 1966, which terminated the government, and the lives of someof the most important Nigerians. Beingyoung, energetic and resourceful, after the coup he was reappointed Headmaster of the Nasarawa Central Primary School till 1967 when he was then appointed Councilkr in theNasarawaLocal Governmentin chargeof Agriadturefrom 1967to1969, Works Departmentfrom 1969to 1972 and Financefrom 1972 to 1975. By 1976, Alhaji Hassan Ahmed nowa manof considerabk experience was appointed Chairman Nasarawa Schook Board and remained there till1979 when he was again ekaed into the House of Assembly, this timein Plateau state. In 1986, this great scion of Nasarawa and the North was again called upon by the ruling Military Government of the State to serve as the Chairman of the NasarawaAdultEducation Programme after which he finally retiredfrom public office to serve his community andNigeria as a free consultant on all-important issues.
