Media Adviser to the Honourable Minister of Budget and National Planning, Senator Udoma Udo Udoma (February 2016 till date).
Mr Akpandem has worked with Mercantile Bank of Nigeria; Concord Newspapers; Punch Newspapers (1990 -2003) and Independent Newspaper Limited (2003 – 2014), where he served as Managing Editor/Chief Executive Officer. He was in charge of Media and Communications at the 2014 National Conference of the Nigerian people (March to August 2014) and also, Special Media Adviser/Honourary Consultant to the National Cancer Prevention Project.

– Member, Governing Board of the Nigeria Institute of Journalism, Lagos;

PUBLICATIONSː
Mr Akpandem has published a number of articles and contributed to other publications includingː “The New Media and Communication Education in Nigeriaː The Infrastructure Perspective” in the book Critical Issues in Public Relations and Communication (2012) and “Newspaper Management in the Digital Ageː Issues and Perspectives in Mass Communication”. He is also the author of Memories of Yesteryear: Nostalgic Reminiscences.
Mr Akpandem presented the inaugural lecture of the Distinguished Alumni Series of the University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State titled Enhancing employability of Nigerian Universities’ graduates in a competitive global economy.
