Between 1977 – 1978 he was Chairman, Kwande Local Government Council and at the Inception of party politics, he joined the National Party of Nigeria (NPN) under whose platform he was elected Governor in 1978 and re-elected in 1983. Mr. Aper Aku died in 1988 leaving behind two wives and four children
