which later metamorphosed into the NCNC. His political career got a boost in 1954 when he was appointed Minister for Trade and Industry which was a new Ministry in Kaduna. He was a party strategist and a major NPC stalwart in the Borno geographical area. He was also elected the Auditor of the Northern Peoples Congress in 1954 at the party 'sjos Convention. He however resigned his Ministership in 1959 and became the Wasfri of Dikwa. It was in this position that he offered tremendous help to the Northern Regional Government during the plebiscite 1959 1960. He remained the Wa^iri of Dikwa until 1971 when he retired. He was however appointed theNorth-East Commissioner in the Local Government Service Board in 1972 andin 1974 transferred to the Public Service Commission North Eastern State. That sameyear 1974, he was appointed to the Chad Basin Development Authority and became its Chairman later in 1979.
