Biography Entry:
Honorable Alhaji Abudullah Mohammed Zurmi was born in December 1943, at Zurmi in Kaura — Namoda Local Government Area in Sokoto State. He is one of the two children of Mallam Mohammed, a farmer at Kaura Namoda and Mallama Fadimatu, a housewife from Zurmi. He enrolled at the Junior Primary School, Zurmi in 1950 and left in 1953. He went to the Senior Primary School, Kotorkoshi from January, 1954 to December 1956. For his secondary education, he started at the Junior Secondary School, Birnin-Kebbi from January 1957 to December 1958, and later went to the Provincial Secondary School, Sokoto from January 1959 to December 1962. Honourable Alhaji Abdullah Mohammed Zur mi attended the School of Agriculture, Samaru, Zaria from February 1963 to December 1964 and obtained his Agricultural Assistant Certificate in December, 1964. From July 1955 he attended the Cairo Univesity until April 1966, and obtained a Diploma in Irrigation Techniques Enginnering. He went back to the school of Agriculture, Samaru, Zaria from March 1969 to December 1969 and received a Diploma in General Agriculture. He attended the International Crops Research Institute in India for the Semi-Arid Tropics Certificate Course in Sorghum and Millet production in November, 1975. He rose from the post of Agricultural Assis tant in 1969 to Agricultural Superintendent in 1974 and Higher Agricultural Superintendent in October, 1977. Honourable Alhaji Abdullah Mohammed Zur mi was posted to the Argungu Division of Sokoto State as Divisional Agricultural Officer from December 1976 to December 1977. Between January and June 1978, he was at Bakura Farm Centre as Officer in-charge of the farm. He finally became the Zonal Agricultural Of ficer in-charge of Zuru and Yauri Zones of Sokoto State,from June 1978 to February 1979 when he retired from the Civil Service and entered into politics. Honourable Alhaji Abdullah Mohammed Zur mi is married to Fadimatu and Asmau Nana, and they have five children. Honourable Alhaji Abdullah Mohammed Zur mi is widely travelled/Among the places he has visited are Lebanon, Niger, Benin Republic, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and several parts of India. His hobbies are poultry and livestock keeping and Farming. He engages in many indoor games and cultural dances. Alhaji Abdullah Mohammed Zurmi is a member of the National Party of Nigeria and represents Zurmi — Moriki Constituency Sokoto State in the House of Representative.
