FEDERAL PERMANENT SECRETARY AND DIPLOMAT Alhaji Abdulrrahman Mora was born on July 19, 1916atKaiama in thepresentKwara State ofNigeria, hestarted his education at Kaiama Elementary school, frim 1924 28; attended Ilorin Middle school from 1928 33 and the famous Katsina Higher college (Barewa)from 1933-38. He proceeded to the Institute of Education, University of London, England, 1945 0-46. After schooling he become a teacher with ZariaMiddle school from 1938 andKaduna Collegefrom)'947-50. He become the Headmaster of ZariaMiddle school from 1950-54. He was also theprovincial education officer, Northern region in 1954. Alhaji Abdulrrahman Mora was drafted into special constable force in Zaria (1955-1958). In politics and trade unionism, he was not entirely unconneaed He was a foundation member of the Northern peope's congress (NPC) in 1948, and played a dynamic role in Nigeria party politics and during thefrrst Republic. He was elected its Zaria provincial president in 1953, but he had to with draw, his membership of the party in 1954, on a North regional Government Civil servant. In, 1959, Alhaji Abdulrrahman Mora, changed cadre from Education Administration and 1961, was second to the federal Government and posted to Saudi Arabia as a consul and Pilgrims Officer. When diplomatic relations were established between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia in 1961, he was appointed firstsecretary attheEmbassy ofNigeria in Jeddah. He returned to the Ministry of Lagos Affairs where on 1" November, 1962, he was confirmed as a substantial permanent secretary. He was also a founding member of theNorthern of theNorthern Teachers Association (NTA) in 1948 and become its Assistant General secretary in 1950. That Association eventually merged with the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT). Alhaji Abdulrrahman More also served on the Central Board of education and West African Examination Council,, Lagos (1950-1954); executive committee of the Northern Region scout council, Kaduna (1950-1955); participated on the Sir Udoma Board of Inquiry between 1972 and 1973 which investigated into Doaors Trade disputes in Lagos and Ibrahim, Chairman Board of Inquiry between 1972 and 1973 which investigated into Doaors trade disputes in Lagos and Ibadan; Chairman of the social committee on discipline post primary schools in Kaduna State(1980) ;founder of Zaria Education development Authority (ZEDA) in 1992. The gentle man also served as Nigeria's High Commissioner between 1967 and 1970 and back home as Chairman Kwara State public service commission 1976-1977 and member Kwara state Judicial service commission in 1980 He died in 1996.
