FIRST CHAIRMAN, GASKIYA CORPORATION Bom in Sokoto in 1906, Alhaji Abubakar had his early education at the Sokoto Provincial School from 1913 to 1921. In the sameyear, Alhaji Abubakar entered the Katsina Teachers' Training College and his name was the first to be entered in the College Register. On leaving the college in 1927, the Madawaki joined the staff of the Sokoto Middle School as a teacher and taught Geography, History, General Knowledge, Geometry and Arabic, until 1932, when he became thefrrst Visiting Teacher. In 1934, Alhaji Abubakar left the Education Department for Administration, where he was appointed Magatakarda (Scribe) to the Sultan of Sokoto, this post, he held until 1945, when he was again appointed the Sokoto Native Authority Treasurer. In 1949, Alhaji Abubakar was installed the Madawakin Sokoto by the Sultan, Sir Abubakar.
