Alhaji Ado Maitama was born in Gunduwawa Gezawa Local Government Area of Kano State on January 1, 1947. He started with Islamic education and receiv ed his primary education at the Gezewa Primary School and at Kuka Primary School in Kano State where he obtained his primary school cer tificate in December, 1964. He enlisted into the Nigeria Army on the 1st of January 1968, and on February 2nd, 1979, he was discharged from the Nigerian Army having attained the rank of Lance Corpral. In July 1979, he was elected a member of the House of Representatives on the platform of the People's Redemption Party. Alhaji Maitama is a muslim by birth. He got married on the 4th of May 1979 to Mallama Tawaba Ado, Gunduwawa. His hobby is physical education. Honourable Maitama represents Gegawa Constituency in Kano State.
