SARKIN FADAN ZAZZAU, REGIONAL MINISTER OF HEALTH, INFORMATION He was born in Fatika in 1916 to the then Distria Head and Sarkin Fatika. As early as possible, Ahmadu Started his Islamic Education before proceeding to Giwa Elementary School and Zaria Middle School capping it up with afull session in Katsina Training College in 1935 where he passed out withaTeachers' Certificate. Ahmadu was also to take aLocal Government EducationalAdministrative Course in the UK in 1954. Ahmadu'sfirst love was teaching having been adequately trained at least according to the dictates of his time. Hestartedfirstasa Teacherin various Primary and junior Secondary Schools before being aSenior Visiting Teacher and Manager of all Zaria N. A Primary Schools between 1952and1954. This position was responsible for his appointment earlier as SarkinMalamai in 1948 and member, ZariaNA in 1954. Ahmadu Fatika's entry into politics was ablessing to the dominantparty NPC An ace campaigner who used hispower of language to swayvoters to hisside, hismain theme of campaign was the continued domination of theNorth xmwr S'' , ^ djnamC andP°Pukr- ***** ekctions in Zaria despite the formidable opposition of the NEPU. First he won election into the Northern House of Assembly in 1956, after which he was appointed the Parliamentary Secretaryin theMinistryof'Finance and' later Ministry of Agriculture. Hispoliticalcareerpeakedin >961whenhewasappointedtheRegionalMinisterofSocialWelfareandCooperatives. Between 1965and 1966 he was Minister of Information. The Military intervention in the governance of the country put him down but not out Like others he returned to Zaria to become Councillor of Education, and later Community Development before assuming duty as the Head, Zaria Local Authority Administration all between 1966 and 1979. Alhaji Ahmadu Fatika s last public appointment was in 1981 as the Chairman, Police Service Commission of the Federal Government. Alhaji AhmaduFatika is now the SarkinFadan Za^au having been installed'in 1957 after the death of Sarkin Fada Sambo the sameyear.
