Alhaji Idrissa Madi Tikau was born on the 15th of March, 1950 in Tikau, Borno State. He is one of the 13 children of Mallam Mahdi, a farmer. As a member of the Great Nigeria Peoples' Party, Alhaji Tikau represents Fika North Constituency, Borno State in the House of Representatives. He started his elementary education at the Bula Primary School in 1960 and left in 1964 for the Senior Primary School where he obtained his First School Leaving Certificate in 1966. He attended the Borno Teachers' College from 1967 to 1971 and passed his Grade II Teachers Certificate in 1971. He worked as a school teacher for a number of years before being promoted Headmaster in 1974. He has visited Saudi Arabia and some African countries. Hon. Tikau is married and has four children. His main hobbies are hunting and travelling.
