Alhaji Sir Usman Nagogo was appointedNigeria's first Central Minister without portfolio in 1952 and later in 1956 a Regional Minister in the same category. Hewas given the Honorary Doctorof Taws Degree by the Universityoflfeon the 14thof October, 1972. When he died in 1981, he was still the Presidentof Nigerian Polo Club.
