ALIYU, Mallam Zungum

MP: PARLIMENTARY SECRETARY INTERNAL AFFAIRS * Aliyu Zungum was bom of Burum parents in Zungum in 1931 in the old Plateau Province. He first went to Dengi Primary Schoolfrom 1939 to 1942, then Pankshin SeniorPrimary School between 1942 and 1945; He was ako at the Teachers Training Centre Torofrom 1947 to 1949 and Teachers Training Colkge Bauchi between 1952 and 1953. Later in 1957, Mallam Aliyu Zungum took a course for Native Authority Councilors at the Zaria Instituteof Administration. Like most of his peers, he worked with the Native Administration before venturing into politics. He became the Kanam (Barikin Ladi) Councillor for Works and Police before joining the Northern Peopks Congress (NPC). It was under the party that he contested and won ekction into the Federal Houseof Representatives representing Kanam I Barikin Ladi Constituency.It was ako from this position that he was appointed Parliamentary Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs. Mallam Aliyu Zungum's political career was cut short akng with others when their government was brutally sacked by a band of soldiers from a section of the country.
