ATIWURCHA, Tultunda Elam

Gongola State Commissioner for Trade and Industry, hails from Pella in Gombi Local Government Area. Born in April 1938, he attended Pella Central School and Training School, 1948-53.' He was at Numan Teachers'College from 1954-56 for his Grade 111 certificate and obtained his Grade 11 Teachers' Certificate between 1959 and 1960. Between 1957 and 1962 he taught and headed Pella Primary School. Mr. Atiwurcha got his N.C.E. (Nigeria Certificate in Education) in 1965 aftei studying at Advanced Teachers'College Zaria between 1962 and 1965. He worked as Assistant Inspector of Education in the then Benue Province in 1967 and taught at Bauchi and Mubi Teachers' CoUeges between 1968 and 1969. He went to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria for further studies in 1969 and graduated with B.A. (Hons) degree in Historyin 1972. Mr. Atiwurcha worked with the former North-East State Ministry of Education as an Education Officer Grade 1 until the creation of Gongola » State. He held the same position in Gongola State until when he went to ~% the United Kingdom for a Diploma in Advanced Educational Studies at the University of Reading, in 1978. Mr. Atiwurcha is a Christain and is married and has four children. He is a widely travelled man both here in the country and overseas.
