Adaora Umeoji is a Nigerian business executive, appointed as GMD/CEO of Zenith Bank, taking office in June 2024. She succeeded Dr. Ebenezer Onyeagwu, whose successful five-year tenure ended on May 31, 2024. Dr. Umeoji becomes the first female to hold this position in the bank's history. Dr. Umeoji has nearly 30 years of banking experience, 26 of which have been with Zenith Bank. She has served as the bank's Deputy Managing Director since October 2016. She holds degrees in Sociology, Accounting, and Law, alongside a Master’s in Law, an MBA, and a doctorate in business administration. She has also attended prestigious management programs at institutions such as Harvard Business School and Columbia Business School. Dr. Umeoji is a fellow of several professional bodies and was honored as an Officer of the Order of the Niger in 2022 by the Nigerian government. Her humanitarian efforts include founding the Pink Breathe Cancer Foundation and the Adorable Foundation, as well as the Catholic Bankers Association of Nigeria (CBAN). She has also received recognition for her contributions to humanity, including the 2023 Humanitarian Service Icon Award by the Sun Newspaper. Additionally, she holds the title of Lady of the Order of Knights of St. John International and was awarded the Papal Knight of the Order of St. Sylvester by Pope Francis.
