Dr Belau Olatunde GBADAMOSI holds a doctoral degree in Library and Information Studies from the Premier University of Ibadan, Ibadan and a Certificate in Computer Data Processing from the same University. He has a degree in Geography/Educational Management having obtained a B.Ed in the field. He switched over to the fields of librarianship and Information Science at Master degree level having obtained a MLS in the field. Dr Gbadamosi is trained as a teacher and qualified as Teachers Grade II and N.C.E teacher and navigated the practice of teaching at both primary and secondary schools before switching over to librarianship for more than a decade. Dr Gbadamosi doctoral degree in Library and Information Studies provided him opportunity to specialize in the area of Information Use Study, Information Classification and Cataloguing, Information Content Search and repackaging, Virtual/Digital and ICT application to Libraries.
He is an academic and professional librarian with an in depth knowledge in ICT technicality applicatons and Service delivery techniques for over 22years.
Dr B.O Gbadamosi is an astute and committed Librarian who has worked virtually in all service work stations providing core library services with application of International best practices in librarianship at Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo (formerly St. Andrew’s College of Education, Oyo). He has headed virtually all the units of Readers’ Services, Collection Development Unit, Technical Services of Cataloguing and Classification, Serial and e-library units.
He was on secondment as Head of Library at Lanlate Campus of the Institution where he started the Campus Library from the scratch between 2003 and 2006. He has taken charge of the teaching of the Use of Library, a General Course to all students for over two decades. With his teaching background, Dr Gbadamosi was engaged to supervise student teachers on teaching practice. He participated in the teaching of Master Degree Students as Adjunct Lecturer of the Centre for Educational Media Resource Studies, University of Ibadan, Ibadan in 2006 and 2007.
In Fountain University, Osogbo, Dr. Gbadamosi successfully formulated library policies with respect to acquisition, classification, circulation and e-library services. He also championed promotion of reading culture among staff and students through organizing awareness seminars and printing of library information flyers.
Apart from Dr Gbadamosi academic, administrative and research activities, he has served as a member of Oyo State Committee that oversee the books donated to the South West, Nigeria by Book Aid International (BIA) between 1993-1999. He acted as Coordinator, Collection of membership dues in all the institutions in Oyo zone 1997-2000. He served as Chairman, Programme Planning Committee for Mid-year Meeting of the (NLA) held at the Polytechnic, Ibadan, July5, 2000. He was member of Workshop/Seminar Organising Committee of NLA Executive Committee 1998-2000.
He was a member of Finance Committee of NLA that hosted the National Conference/ Annual General Meeting held in 2009 at Ibadan. He served as Assistant Managing Editor, COCLIN Journal of Library and Information Science between 2007 till date. Away from academic and research activities, Dr Gbadamosi is a member Moringa Oleifera Foundation in South West
