Dr. Sahabi Maidamma Jabo, CLN, was born in Barkini Jabo, Tambawal Local Government Area, Sokoto State. Also one of the founding father of the university, Dr. Sahabi Jabo served as Acting University Librarian of the federal university birnin kebbi since inception. He started his elementary education in Jabo Town Primary School. He also attended Government Teachers’ College Dogon-Daji where he obtained Grade II Teachers’ Certificate. He proceeded to College of Education, Sokoto, for Nigerian Certificate in Education (NCE).
in 1990, he was enrolled into Bayero University, Kano, where he acquired Bachelor of Arts degree in Library science (B.A LS). Similarly he attended Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto, where he obtained Msc and PhD in Political Science in 2002 and 2012 respectively. Dr. Sahabi Jabo joined the services of Sokoto State Teachers’ Service Board as a classroom teacher in 1989 and rose upto rank of Senior Master.
In 1997, Sahabi was posted to Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto as a college Librarian, where he served for 11 years. While in the College Sahabi won Sokoto State Civil Service award in 2002, for his outstanding qualities, particularly dedication to duty. In 2008, he also joined the services of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto as a senior librarian and was later promoted to the rank of Principal Librarian.
while in the service of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Dr. Sahabi headed the Arabic Unit, ICT unit and Readers’ Services Divisions of the Library at different times in 2014. until his appointment, Dr. Jabo had been the Acting Vice Chancellor, Federal University Birnin Kebbi. He also served as Chairman and member of different committees in the institution.
These include the University ethics and Privilege Committee, Senate Council and Finance and General Purposes Committee. Dr. Jabo is Chartered par excellence and was once a Treasurer of Nigerian Library Association (NLA), Sokoto State Chapter.
The accomplished professional has several publications to his credit. He also presented papers at difference conference, seminars at both Local and International levels. He is married and blessed with children.
