AJIMOTOKAN, Hon. Abdul Ganiu Olatunde

Honourable Abdul Ganiu Ajimotokan was born in Agege in Lagos State on 22nd September, 1937. His parents, the late Mr. & Mrs. A. A. Ajimotokan had six children. They hailed from Ijebu-Ode in Ogun State. Honourable Ajimotokan attended the Moslem School,' Ijebu-Ode from 1946 to 1952. He then proceeded to the Moslem College, Ijebu-Ode in 1953 where he passed the West African School Certificate in 1957. Honourable Ajimotokan secured an employ ment as a Clerical Officer in 1958 and thereafter, studied privately to obtain the General Certificate of Education at the Advanc ed Level in 1960, and the London University In termediate LLB in 1962. He was promoted an Executive Officer in 1964 and in the same year he was admitted to the University of Lagos where he obtained an Honours degree in Law in 1967. He was called to the Bar at the end of his studies at the Nigeria Law School in 1968. He became an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries in 1972. Honourable Ajimotokan worked with the Shell Company of Nigeria Ltd. from 1968 to 1973 and with the Guinness Nigeria Ltd. as a Deputy Company Secretary from 1973 to 1979. In December 1976, Honourable Ajimotokan was elected to the Ikeja Local; Government Council as a Councillor and remained so until he was elected to the Federal House of Representatives in July 1979 on the platform of the Unity Party of Nigeria to represent Ikeja, Lagos State. Honourable Ajimotokan's early life was influenced by the strictness of his mother and the strong disciplinary tendencies of his late father. Moreover, throughout his college life, he had very meaningful people at the helm of his affairs and their admonitions in no little way helped to sharpen his life considerably.
