Honourable Abubakar Sadiq Harith was born in Bebeji/Kiru District/Tudun Wada Local Government Area of Kano State on 21st December, 1947. A muslim by faith, he was influenced early in life by Islam. Other influences on his early life were politics and business. He attended Gwammaja Junior Primary School in Kano City from 1958 to 1961 and later the Festival Senior Primary School, Kano from 1962 to 1964. After his senior primary education in 1964, he went to the Advanced Teacher's College, Kano from 1965 to 1969. He received his primary school certificate 1964, and Grade II Teachers' Certificate in 1969. After his educational career, he joined the Ministry of Education, where he served as a classroom teacher at Jogana and Dantata Primary School, Kano from 1970 to 1971. He joined the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources after resigning from the Ministry of Education in 1971. During his stay in the Ministry of Agriculture, he served as Produce Inspector and was posted to a number of towns in Kano State. In 1977, he became Manager of Dantata World - Wide Company in Kano after leaving the civil service. Finally, after a couple of years with Dantata, he established his own business as a textile trader. Mr. Harith married his two wives, Zulaihatu and Zainab, in April 1969 and May 1974 respec tively. They have six children. He has visited the Niger Republic. His hob bies are reading, football, television watching and travelling. He belongs to many voluntary organisations which include the Nigerian National Council of Adult Education. He was also the Director and Financial Secretary of Dantata Adult Education Classes, Sarari, Kano City. He was the Publicity Secretary of Kano City Boys' Club for about five years before it was banned. Abubakar Sadiq Harith is a member of the P.R.P. and represents Kiru Constituency in Kano State in the House of Representatives.
