Alhaji Ahmed Tanko Ushama was born in 1936 at the Ushama-Kusheki District of Niger State. A moslem by faith, he was influenced early in life by Islamic doctrines. He attended elementary school at Kagara in 1944 and the Middle School, Bida in 1948. In 1970, he attended the Naraguta School of Forestry Jos. He has a Middle II Certificate and a School of Forestry Certificate. Alhaji A. Tanko worked as a forest guard from 1950 until 1962 when he was promoted forest supervisor. He was the head of the Department of Natural Resources, Rafi Local Government Area. He married his wife, Bakuwa in 1954 and they are blessed with five children. The countries he has visited include Saudi Arabia, Niger and Benin Republic. He is a member ot the National Party of Nigeria and represents Rafi Constituency, Niger State in the House of Representatives.
